Blind in the head
I have Aphantasia. For people that do not know it is the lack of any kind of mental imagery.
And it is incredibly lonely.
I don't dream, I can't imagine people, animals, scenery, fantasy worlds.
I don't see my loved ones in my head, people who have passed on I need a photo to remember what they look like.
It also means I can't do art very well, I can't translate pictures from my head onto paper.
I do write and enjoy it, but it lacks any kind of imagery, I find I don't describe the characters appearance.
I think it's also made me emotionally neutral. I don't react to death with sadness, I tend to have a "no cares" personality.
Revising was always hard, people always suggested writing sentences on paper so I memorised them. Of course that didn't work with no mental imagery.
I don't know if it's connected but I find I lack motivation to do much either, perhaps it's because I can't see an outcome?
Anyway, I think that's all, thanks for reading and I would be interested to know what it's like to have pictures in your head.
