Is it worth it to buy a house when I am only going to be in a place for 2-3 years and if not is there better places for my money than stocks?
23 years old. Currently have 16k in Roth IRA, 20k in individual account and 6k in 401k, 4K in checking. Current salary 75k likely to increase to 85 by next year and house prices that I am looking at are 45-70k. Is it worth it to buy a house in this area if I am likely to be there only 2-3 years. My rent is currently 675 a month for a small house that would be equivalent to the places I would purchase. I can comfortably invest about 1750 a month currently while still maxing my 401k (19,000) for the year. Should I just continue renting and investing or should I start the home openers hip process. Currently have a great landlord.
