Confidence in 3a fixes? or get a different phone?

I'm looking for a phone for my kiddo's birthday, pref. $450 or less, and her biggest desire is a great camera. I'm planning to buy within the next 2-3 weeks. I was planning on the 3a but now I'm concerned.

Do y'all feel confident that the issues like the random rebooting will get fixed, or am I better off researching all over again and getting something else? I had previously considered the Moto g7 and Galaxy s8.
