What is a reasonable bond

How does a judge determine a reasonable bond? I ask because two days ago I was attacked in my front yard by a crazy guy with a knife (I'm ok). I went to the first appearance and requested gps monitoring as well as his bond shouldn't be lowered because I fear for my family's safety (thank god it was me and not them). The judge said that gps monitoring was unnecessary and his bond was too high even though he has a lengthy and violent record. He was charged with a second degree and third degree felony by the state of Florida
