EM decides to hold up a theme park ride

M

First time posting here, TL;DR at end

So a bit of context: I work at a theme park, primarily on a ride with a minimum height restriction of 1.1m (where this took place). I should mention that this is by no means the highest one in the park, as it isn't really aimed at small children.

For people who do try to take on children too small, we have a parent swap scheme, basically one parent stays off with the small child while the rest of the group rides, then the parent who didn't ride goes on with up to 2 others from the group (after a minimal wait because you need to sort out the grouping, so they can't go straight on.

EP and family walk up, I was the offload host so didn't see/hear much of what happened, but saw child in tears (common response), and then EP and small child waiting by exit.

All is fine, EP seems to accept the system, but when the family gets off, EP tries to go straight on, alone (it's worth mentioning that there must be at least 4 people per boat)

So me and the other host ask EP to wait in one of the rows until we can fit them in, that's fine they go there and bring 2 others from their group, all good right?

Wrong!

As soon as we are about to move the ride on (there are multiple boats on this ride), EP starts ranting to my colleague, the load host, meaning we can't move the ride as they can't focus on keeping it safe. This goes on for 10 minutes, and eventually EP shuts up.

But not for long!

When they are about to get on (like they are about to ride this thing!) they start ranting to the operator about how poorly we've treated them, messing them about, etc. (bear in mind that we had explained the process and followed that exactly).

This took another 10 minutes or so, eventually operator calls a manager to deal with them (as EP is now on the platform and so we can't move it at risk of injuring them) and EP decides to wait by the side (bearing in mind they could have gone on)

Manager arrives and talks to them for a bit, they all walk off together soon after and I just hope they didn't get to just skip another ride's queue but that's proabably what happened.

Thankfully I managed to avoid her wrath, as both the other host and operator said she was a pain to deal with.

TL;DR - EP can't get straight on ride, holds up ride for about 20 minutes total.
