Launching/closing MSI Afterburner depending on power state

Software

As should be apparent from my user flair, I'm using an upgraded Gigabyte Aero 15X V8. A great laptop in many ways, overall, but I do have a slight issue.

I'm using MSI Afterburner to undervolt the GTX 1070 Max-Q when I use it, but it's a bit tedious launching and closing the application manually every time I need it. I don't want it to constantly run as it forces the GPU to be powered, reducing my battery life in half instantly.

What I'd like to do is use Task Scheduler to automatically run the software whenever the laptop is plugged in, and conversely close it when I'm only using the battery. However, despite searching online I haven't found a definitive answer for how I can acquire the power state and use it as a boolean to check against.

Better yet, if possible, instead of running it depending on power state, it would be even more useful if I could detect when the GPU is being utilised instead and use that to enable the undervolt.

If any of you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them!
