We're creating the first Scottish Gaelic translation of Anne of Green Gables!
Bradan Press is my Gaelic publishing company based in the Canadian Maritimes. We are raising money to commission, edit, and publish the first-ever translation of Anne of Green Gables into Scottish Gaelic. Our Kickstarter campaign runs until 30 June, 2019:

Anne of Green Gables has been translated into over 30 languages... but never Gaelic, even though L.M. Montgomery and Prince Edward Island have startling Gaelic connections. We feel this is a major oversight, connected to the way that Gaels and Gaelic have been deliberately erased from Maritime, Canadian, and Scottish culture & history. (See the project description & especially the FAQ section for more info.)
The Gaelic edition will be titled Anna Ruadh, “Red-haired Anne,” which would be a typical Gaelic nickname for a red-haired girl named Anne. (“Red-haired Anne” is also the title of the Japanese edition of Anne, which is very popular in Japan as a book and anime.)
The Gaelic translation is in progress, and will be completed in July 2019. Immediately after completion, the manuscript will go to a Gaelic dialect editor in Nova Scotia who will suggest ways to add a Cape Breton flavour to the Gaelic dialogue. After editing, the manuscript will go to a Gaelic copyeditor in October 2019, and then the book goes into production! The cover illustrator has already produced the stunning new cover design, as seen on the Kickstarter video & page.
The planned publication date is June 1, 2020. We hope to launch the book in Prince Edward Island at a historical site connected to L.M. Montgomery on June 28, 2020. Rewards will ship to backers starting in June 2020. Check out the link now! Mòran taing airson leughadh / Thank you for reading!
