I'm getting suspended

Im 13 in 2nd year and I'm about to get suspended for the first time. I stole airpods i found in the changing rooms and when the owner asked for them back via text i arranged to meet up and gave them back. The next day (today) im called in to talk to the principal and told im getting suspended for an undisclosed amount of time. People who've been suspended before, how did it affect you and is it as big a deal as this feels? I have to tell my parents tonight 😞 Edit: also how in fuck do i tell my mum im gonna die guys
