Towing furniture cross country

Hey! Totally crazy question... I have to move across the country and am looking for ways to save money and get 1) my stuff over there and 2) my Clarity over there.

I looked online and found that it is possible to install a trailer hitch to the clarity. I don't have a ton of stuff and am planning on selling a few heavy things (couch, bookshelf, etc) before the move, but I would like to keep one or two larger furniture items like my mattress and wine rack.

Has anyone towed anything with a Clarity before? Is it possible or am I an idiot for even considering it? The drive would be around 2000 miles, as well.
