$1000-$2000 range laptop that will last me 5 years. Looking to prioritize performance, battery life, weight and durability in that order.

Tried a MacBook Pro and a Thinkpad with Intel i5 core, 16 GB RAM through work and they both seemed to do the trick.

Looking to field the experts here to see if there are any other options as I put my own money into a laptop investment.
