Trade tariffs potential effect on video game hardware?
Hi KF crew (or whoever wants to tackle my question...looking at you, Greg),
I’m definitely not trying to be political but I’m hoping you would be able to look into this and explore the potential effects of how the current/potential tariffs could impact the next generation of consoles.
I work with import products daily and have seen the extreme effects of the trade tariffs have taken on the items I work with and I can say from personal experience they have caused the products I work with to rise significantly in retail price.
I remember seeing an article recently that China had threatened to stop exporting rare earth minerals (a resource used in a lot of technical equipment including hardware) as well as a tariff on hardware components themselves (though I can’t remember which side was imposing that tariff from the article).
With the next generation of consoles on the horizon and production starting soon, what do you think the potential effects are and how would they affect the industry and the consumers?
Thanks for all you do! New listener within the last year and loving all of the content!
