Thoughts on how I can discuss my interest in working for and supporting my demographic/community without seeming closed to other communities or unwilling to work with people different than me.

In my PS I wrote about my upbringing and community. My family/ethnicity played a big role in my own growing up. One of my most meaningful ECs (clinical) involved me working with underserved patients of my ethnic group.

For secondaries that ask about future goals/diversity, I'd like to talk about how I want to support these communities as a physician, researcher, advocate, etc. I also want to be involved with student orgs, research, or advocacy that support my ethnic group during medical school.

I am not opposed to serving other groups AT ALL. In fact, I welcome it. But I can see how some would misinterpret or infer from my application as someone who only wants to help those who look like me.

I'd just like your thoughts on strategies and tips on how I can better avoid this while still conveying my interest in helping people like my family and myself.
