PS3 Slim Red Screen

I have a jailbroken PS3 slim (CECH-2001A) , wanted to remove the custom firmware and restore to original Sony update. When I attempted to update it, the PS3 reset, and says "looking for software update", then goes to the red screen (this still happens before red screen, will try to read an update then goes into red screen). I am unable to boot into safe mode, as the PS3 would just turn off after the double beep, and replacing the hard drive did nothing but turn the ps3 on, have a black screen, then turns the ps3 off. Is it possible to restore the system? Would I need a flasher or is the system just bricked. (If it helps, prior to this I was on the PS3 developer mode for some reason).
