MORE! CANCELLED!
I used to work at the jalapeño Mexican grill and our store had a lot of regulars. There was one middle aged business man (BM) who always came in with like 3 of his coworkers and ordered food. Even though BM was a regular, he was a dick. Everyone in the store had a story about him and how he sucked and finally it was my turn to experience him. BM came in during peak lunch hours and being the rich man he is always payed for the bowls and burritos for his coworkers which is fine, good for him. But this day I was running the end of salsa/expo and BM asked for a large guacamole.
Me: No problem sir! (Scoops the guac in the large cup)
BM: More.
Me: Yeah, that’s no problem! (Slips a little more on top)
BM: More.
Me: uhhhh... okay (puts a little more on top)
BM: More!
Me: Sir, I’m sorry, I can’t put any more on, the lid wont close. (It was policy for us not to pass food over without a lid)
BM: I don’t care, more! I have to share with the table!
Me: Sir, I can’t, I already gave you more and I have to put the lid on.
BM: There’s an air bubble on the bottom, more!
Me: I’m sorry sir there isn’t and I can’t, you can buy a small one in addition to the large to get more.
BM: CANCELLED!
Me: ...excuse me?
BM: CANCEL IT!
The Assistant manger (AM) who was also helping expo stepped in: Sir that’s all he’s allowed to give you, that’s more than the right portion.
BM: I JUST WANTED A LITTLE MORE FOR THE TABLE BECAUSE WE’RE SHARING IT!
AM: sighs just give him some more...
I slapped some more on, places the lid on top even though the guac was about two inches higher than the rim and just handed it over to AM. The line wasn’t moving because there was something at the register happening and BM was leaning on the salsa bar with his arms spread across the whole sneeze guard and we weren’t able to continue with other guests meals. He was just standing there fuming.
A couple days later, he came back through, ordered the large guac and I gave him the extra. I gave him no smile, no acknowledgement, no have a great day, nothing. BM just smiled and said “thanks, that wasn’t that hard.”
I quit not too long after this. I was already on the verge of leaving but this regulars interaction pushed me over.
