My 3.5 year old’s daycare just gave us the ASQ-SE questionnaire

Advice

Does anyone have any experience with this? His daycare is amazing and I do not doubt the quality of care that he is getting there. He has been having issues like hitting other kids and recently stopped napping during nap time. They don’t mind that but for the past week or two, he is either disruptive during nap time (being loud, intentionally waking up other kids) or staying in bed and wetting the bed. He is very vocal and is usually able to express himself very well.

His teacher put the ASQ-SE 48-month questionnaire in his cubby yesterday that were supposed to fill out. I googled it and looks like it’s the first step in determining whether he might have a developmental delay. I am already devastated (probably overreacting). He’s super social, compassionate, helpful, and a rule follower. But he does also like to stick to routines and once he identifies a pattern of the way something is done, he has to follow it. He also has a hard time transitioning from one activity to another, unless you prepare him for the transition. Up until now I thought that his behavioral issues are because of us being impatient with him.

We’re going to fill out the questionnaire today and see how it goes. I’m also kind of blindsided because up until yesterday afternoon his teacher kept saying to us that we just have to be patient with him and give him time because he is going through huge changes (I’m currently pregnant with my second). So I have no idea what suddenly prompted her to give us this questionnaire in the evening. I’ve scheduled a call with the daycare provider in an hour to try to get more details.

I would really appreciate any advice.
