I am new to listening this podcast and really like it but have a question

Is Adam like supposed to be funny in some weird ironic way that I am just not getting? Like he seems to just be this weird roadblock to the riffing that is going on more often than not. I am on number 89 and he interrupts a riff by Mullen to explain what mirepoix is and it is just shockingly bad. I admit that I am way behind everything and I just might not get it yet but does he get better?
