Current state of Civil Engineering software prices

Autocad 1.6k USD, Tekla 8k (Revit 2.3k), ARSA Robot 4.6k etc. (YEARLY!!!). Don't get me started on MS Office and other basic stuff.

This is insane! Graphical designers, programmers pay a lot less, e.g. I pay 150 as a programmer for my tools. No wonder structural designers get paid shit for the effort and responsibility. And FYI, the prices for those tools are same in Europe, so it might be okay to pay 20k USD for them in the US, but in Europe the average CivEng salary is 3-4x times lower.
