One bassinet/cosleeper/anything for the first few months??

Has anyone used one of the above for both babies in the early months before they're rolling? We're in an every penny counts kind of situation and I'm so overwhelmed at how much stuff you buy just to use for a few months and then transition. Plus, I'm a first timer who knows nothing and there's way too much "oh I couldn't live without all this super expensive stuff" online that's hard to filter through. Since twins might be a little smaller (hubs and I are also both very height challenged and under 150 lbs), can they share one bedside thing before we move them into their two cribs? Anyone done it and have one that worked well?
