Legality of using YouTube audio in your podcast?

Hello all. In the most recent episode of my podcast, we referenced a YouTube clip. I decided to record the audio of the clip, so our listeners could understand the reference. The audio is from a “YouTube podcast”, so it’s just two people talking. I’m just wondering if it’s legal for me to use that audio? Seems like kind of a gray area. I know a lot of podcasts I’ve listened to have used audio from YouTube, but I don’t know if they had to get the rights or something else.
