His birthday is coming up.

I broke up with him about 8 months ago because our long distance relationship wasn’t working. I explained my reasoning and he understood. The next day he deleted me on all social media and there has been absolutely zero contact from either one of us since that day. I have nearly broken down and messaged him on several occasions but somehow managed to stop myself. But his birthday is coming up and of course I’m mad that his is before mine. Not speaking to him all this time has been absolutely excruciating, he was my best friend. Neither one of us did anything wrong that caused the end of our relationship, we just couldn’t see it working out logistically. It’s hard when there’s no reason to hate someone, makes getting over them so much more difficult. I guess my question is if I should even bother breaking the silence at this point. He may still hate me since I was the one who ended it.
