I'm Seeking Advice education and support resources for my Visual Studio / ASP projects

I'm attempting to get through a few different projects in Visual Studio /ASP for Web.

I've taught myself to create a basic web page with graphical elements, interactive buttons and a webmap using VB for code behind and managed to 'published' it to my domain but I'm unfamiliar with some basics of web development in general.

I'm struggling to set up basic things like session variables and some formatting issues such as accounting for variable screen resolutions.

Has anyone tried an online resource such as 'Codementor' for hiring consultants on an hourly basis?

I'm not really trying to become an expert in these areas but can someone recommend an online educational resource for Visual Studio and OOB programming in general?
