Steam games uninstalling

Yesterday, I bought and installed A Plague Tale: Innocence and played it for around an hour. Today, I turned my computer on to find it saying the entire game needed to be installed again. A similiar thing happened with all my mods for cities skylines, is this a known glitch and is there any way for me to fix it?
