My spider plant is producing spiderettes... how do I handle the long stalk?

Hello, everybody. My spider plant is finally starting to produce spiderettes and has shot out a stalk that has been growing very quickly over the last week. At this point, the stalk is long enough to let it droop downwards. My only problem with that is the weight of the stalk and the fact that, if I let it droop, the stalk itself won't be in the light source.

Should I let the stalk droop like it naturally would if it were hung up, or should I support it somehow and let it grow outwards? If I DO let it droop, does it matter if the stalk isn't under the light source anymore?
