Xbox One X nearing brick status
Preface: I don't know how to do reddit formatting, and I got my X from the Doritos and Mountain Dew promotion a few years back.
A few weeks ago, I was trying to boot my xbox up to play NHL for the first time in a few weeks, and the console update froze at around 60 percent (really dont remember because alot has happened since then).
Fast forward to when I started my summer>>>I was finally able to tinker with it, so I restored the console to factory defaults, and the update that came with the factory default reset froze just like the original update. I read alot that the hard drives included in the console could be wonky, so I got a different hard drive to try, and went through the process of partitioning this new drive, and this did not help at all.
Also, I read that thermals could be an issue, so I tore down the console to clean it out, and I replaced the (dried and exploded everywhere) original thermal paste and replaced it with Arctic MX4. After booting and doing an offline update, I got to the dashboard, but no applications will launch ("This application is taking too long to launch"), and no games will fully update--trying to install/update nhl 17-- or stopped installing at like 68 percent or something like that, and the console eventually powered itself off. Any suggestions will be very welcome and attempted because I don't know what else to try.
Again, pardon my lack of formatting, other than recognizing what a paragraph (kind of) is, but i'm growing nearer and nearer to giving up on my xbox one that has lasted less time than my 360, that still is running, albeit like a jet engine.
EDIT: Warranty from purchase has run out, so voiding is not an issue.
