What's a good strategy for crafting armor with an alt for a new character?

I want to play through Elsweyr with a Necromancer.

My main character can craft anything and has every trait researched, so I want to craft some armor for my fledgling Necromancer.

What's the best way to do this to always keep him with the best possible armor?

Should I craft armor for him every 10 levels? Or every 5?

And can it be just the regular craftable armor or should I always craft him a set armor (like Julianos, for example).

And is Training the best trait while he's leveling up to 50?
