Those who don't work in tech, how do you handle feelings of jealousy/envy/resentment...

Question

...over the money? I probably make about half or 2/3 of what the median engineer/developer makes. I have a respectable white-collar job. I'm actively working on basing my self-worth on more than just my salary, but it's hard when I have friends in tech who own $2m homes in Bellevue, stay at the Four Seasons, etc. It's hard when I'm surrounded by it; all I have to do is walk outside and see people my age driving Teslas, fellow parents with strollers that cost half a grand, etc. There's always been an upper class of course, but it used to feel like a world apart. Now it feels like I've been left behind. My guess is that the advice isn't any different than it has always been when you have friends who start to make more money than you, so maybe I'm looking for commiseration more than anything.
