how much do you think a year of studying abroad would offset mediocre ecs & okay stats?

My stats are okay 4.3W/3.9UW and 33 ACT but for the most part i don’t have outstanding extracurriculars. I’m involved in a few non-major related activities pretty heavily but planning on picking up a few more activities next year.

I worry because, as i’m graduating high school in 3 years, my repertoire of activities will be seen as insignificant. I will be studying abroad for a year through RYE and i’m wondering how significant that may appear to universities.

I plan on applying to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UDub, UIUC (instate), CU Boulder (instate), then a few more safeties.
