[LFG][MC] MMO Vet Looking for a Home

Hello!

I am a MMO vet that picked up FFXIV again in prep for Shadowbringers. I am very interested in getting back into raiding during Shadowbringers and I am looking for a medium core FC/Static group. I am currently on Balmung, but will transfer wherever. I am leveling a BRD currently (67), but I have plans to try and get a WAR and/or AST to 70 before launch. I am really willing to play whatever at this point, so if this seems like a good fit, let me know what you want/need me to play ASAP and I will level it. Maybe this is too structured for a post like this, but I will give you some background on my MMO history, what I am looking for come Shadowbringers, and a little bit about myself.

Below is a brief list of relevant MMOs (and raiding experience) that I have played over the past 15 years or so:

  • WoW - Played on an off since launch. Raiding at the highest level of content during Vanilla, BC, WoTLK and Cata. I played for brief periods during WoD and Legion (only really to confirm that the game just didn't interest me anymore). I raided mainly as a Hunter and Resto Shaman through most of this content.
  • SWToR - Played very heavily during the launch and subsequent months. The raid group I was in very easily cleared all of the content at the time (Eternity Vault, Karagga's Palace and Explosive Conflict). I think we all just stopped caring after that. I think there was a content drought after that, or everyone went back to WoW, or both. I really can't remember. I raided as a Sith Marauder (Melee DPS) through all of this content.
  • FFXIV - Played very heavily when ARR (2.0) was released. My FC at the time was in the race for World First for Binding Coil: Turn 5 (for reference, I got the achievement for turn 5 on 10/3/2013). To make a long story short, pushing that hard basically burnt us all out and most of us ended up just quitting and going back to WoW eventually. I didn't touch FFXIV again until about 3 weeks ago when oddly enough I saw a trailer for Shadowbringers during previews for Endgane, haha.
  • Blade and Soul - I played this very heavily after the Western release. There weren't really raids at the time, but I was doing all of the hardest endgame content at the time.
  • Other list of MMOs played - Guild Wars 2, Wildstar, TERA, Rift, Elder Scrolls Online, Maplestory 2 and Lord of the Rings Online. Didn't really play any of these that seriously outside of GW2, and that only during the initial release.

Here is what I am looking for out of a MC FC/Static come Shadowbringers:

  • 2-3 Scheduled Raids a Week - This is probably what defines medium core for most people. I want to do all of the content the game has to offer, but I don't want FFXIV to feel like a 2nd job. Ideally we would only need to do 2-3 nights during prog, then back off after that. I am pretty flexible on this.
  • Raid times between 7pmish and 12amish EST - I work a pretty normal M-F, 9am-5pmish EST job schedule. So 7pm to 12am is my ideal raiding window. I am pretty flexible on which days. For clarity, I don't want to raid from 7pm to 12am, I just want the raid times to be inside of that time window (ideally).
  • People Show Up - This is big for me. If we set a raid time I would expect people to show up. Do things come up and that means someone can't make it? Of course! Advanced notice of this would be great if possible. I am all for moving things around (or even just cancelling a particular night) to accommodate someone, but flaky people annoy the shit out of me.
  • People Try/Care - I am one of those people who likes to be good at the class/job I am playing. Am I going to have top parses? Probably not. I will be trying my hardest to AT LEAST carry my weight though. I know that I am behind most people in FFXIV knowledge, so I will be doing my best to get caught up and up to speed. I just generally want to be around other people who are willing to put in the time to get better. Watch guides, spend some time with a training dummy, etc. People that are open to suggestions without getting defensive about it.
  • Social - This might seem out of place, but I would love if the FC had an active Discord and FC chat in game. I like to get to know the people I am playing with and socialize about random shit while not raiding. Nothing is worse than playing a MMO as a single player game because no one talks!

Here is a little bit about me personally:

I am a 33 year old male that lives in Michigan. I work in the Business Intelligence/Data Science space as a Big Data Engineer. Just a general all purpose nerd who is into pretty much into anything sci-fi or fantasy related.

Anyway, thanks for reading my wall of text and if I sound like I might be a good fit for you, please reach out to me on Discord at Uzurk#3901.
