"Touristy" Things to Do This Month?

Hey there,

So I lived in Halifax 15 years ago and haven't been back since. I will be visiting all of next week, and I'm bringing my wife, who's never been to the east coast!

I have a pretty good idea of the easy things to do. The Harbor Hopper is still a thing I'm sure? And we'll walk the waterfront, and drink downtown, and do Pizza Corner, check out the citadel, Lunenburg, Peggy's Cove, etc. The easy, obvious stuff I remember from years ago.

But is there anything within a couple-hour drive of the HRM that you guys would explicitly recommend, especially to show someone who's never been east of Ontario?

Cabot Trail is on my mind, but that's about it. And that's kind of far for us, considering we'll be aiming for quick day-trips away from family before coming back to Halifax.

Are there any well-kept secrets as far as scenic views/walks go? Any scenic parks? Quaint villages with seafood hole-in-the-walls? I'd like to take her away from Halifax a couple times while we're down with the whole family so that I can show her other parts of NS without going too far.

The only other thing I have in mind is the ferry to P.E.I. just so she can say she's been.

Any tips or ideas?

Thank you! And apologies if this topic pops up a lot - I'm usually hanging around the Edmonton subreddit and see the same posts every day about things to do in the city, so I hope I'm not one of those annoyances.
