Possible unpopular opinion - Kingdom Hearts franchise would be 100x better if the plot wasn't so insanely convoluted.
Looking back and replaying old games, the first one had a really solid plot. Worlds were disappearing/being attacked by monsters, Disney villains seemed to be to blame, you defeat them all, turns out it was some guy pulling the strings in the background, you defeat him, the end. Pretty simple.
From Chain of Memories onward, however, the plot continues to get more complex to the point where by this point it almost feels like we're being pranked. Maybe I'm just anti-intellectual, but if they had just made Organization XIII into the new bad guys who want to take over all the worlds instead of a group with an insanely complex motivation, and they made Xehanort a villain in the same vein instead of some guy who wants to create a certain number of heroes and villains in order to bring about an event that would create some kind of weapon that he wants because...reasons...and the hero is like a sort of reincarnation of another hero because his heart latched onto him and the original heroes are like fusions of someone or in limbo or whatever...like seriously, that's just way too much.
tl;dr - if Kingdom Hearts was just about going to other worlds and fighting villains because the villains are bad, that'd be way better than the mess of a plot it has now.
