Weird discoloration

So for a number of years now I've had this strange splotch of discoloration on my bass. It's never bothered me or affected the bass in any way but I'm not sure how it got there in the first place. My bass has a honey blonde nitro finish but there is a orangey blotch on the bottom of the instrument near the strap button. That part of the bass hasn't been exposed to excess sunlight, is it from water? What is it? Pls help reddit.

Has it been kept on a stand with rubber cushioning? Rubber/neoprene ect can discolour nitro finishes.

Ahhh OK that might explain it. It's not any more but it was on a stand for years. It's a Jazz Bass so the discoloration is on the lower side where more weight would be when on the stand.

Thanks mate. It all adds to the character of the instrument in the end. I think it's a pretty sweet looking rig as well :)
