Best hamburger in Bangkok?

Hi all,

My lady-friend and I are looking for the best hamburgers in Bangkok. She doesn't eat beef, but I do. Where do we go?

Edit: we ended up going to Daniel Thaiger in Nana last week. A little on the pricey side for Bangkok, but average cost if you're American. I had the Steve and she had the salmon burger. The decor was unique and appealing. The music was good, modern American hard rock. Overall, an enjoyable experience.

Does she eat Lamb? Daniel Thaiger on Soi 11 is great, they do a killer lamb burger.

I dont knowing she eats lamb, but I'll ask. I've heard Daniel Thaiger before, but their burger pictures on Google Maps weren't all that impressive.

I'm gonna say it's the best burger I've ever had, period. And I've eaten plenty in the US and Canada too.

If she doesn't eat lamb then you can head over to their food truck where do they do a pork burger (they don't do this at the place in soi 11). Haven't tried it myself, but I've heard it's good too.

Lmao the fuck out of here. It’s ok, but way too expensive and there’s better options (21 degrees) and similar quality for better price (Jaime’s burger).

The latter of which has pork btw

25 degrees is not as good as Daniel Thaiger, it's far too greasy and it's also double the price. If you go to their food truck the prices are 150 to 200 baht, it's double the price at their Soi 11 outlet.

Burger fight! Burger fight!

Burger opinions are highly personal and subjective.

I've eaten a lot of burgers in Bangkok, including at the prominent food trucks and have come to the conclusion that making your own will beat any place in town. Burger joints in Bangkok like to add unnecessary stuff, use heavy salad sauces, cost too much for what you get etc. Double and triple whoppers at Burger King also ain't bad in a pitch. I like my burgers very simple so maybe all of this won't apply to you.

This is always true, anywhere. Your homemade burger, made exactly the way you like it, is always the best burger.

I'm sure it's true for any Thai dish as well. It's just true for food, period.

Cocotte is pretty good but super pricey and pretentious. To be quite honest I don't eat burgers while there.

Why are you even bringing up this place then? What kind of people do that?

Because they sell burgers? or at least they used to? They have a 1000 Baht burger which is actually pretty good.

1000 baht wtf? Do they use wagyu and top it with foie gras or something?

Cocotte is delicious! I know you were asking for burgers but you have to try their Tomohawks (for me it’s the better ones in Thailand!)

Now that you mentioned it I had their tomahawk. It's good, but I've had better.

Looked good until I didn’t know where Nipomo was. Definitely making a trip here when I go back to US

Thanks!

It's an institution. They use real oak for their steaks, I highly recommend the Big Spencer.

Cocotte

Any restaurant that has foie gras on the menu should be boycotted until they remove it.

If that's a reason for you boycotting a restaurant you should probably do the same to any restaurant that sells chicken or pork. I'm not a vegetarian myself but that fact is it's very hard to justify eating meat. I do it because of selfish reasons.

I have no problem with people (including myself) eating meat. I do however think that the animals should be kept in humane conditions and when the time comes for them to be killed it should be done as quickly and painlessly as possible.

Stuffing a pipe down a duck's neck and force feeding it on a daily basis until its liver becomes diseased is disgusting.

Many countries, restaurants and chefs now refuse to allow the fatty liver to be produced, sold in stores and served in restaurants.

If you think pigs, chicken and cows are kept in humane conditions you're in for an unpleasant surprise.

Chickens are overfed until their legs cannot carry them after which they basically collapse under their own weight. Many develop diseases and have body parts rotting because of it. Small chicks are pushed alive into shredders.

Pigs spend their life in a confined space where they cannot turn around. Mind you, pigs are extremely intelligent compared to most animals. Ears, tails and balls are cut off, often without painkillers. The transportation of live pigs is absolutely disgusting.

Cows are also confined into a small space and the treatment of these animals is all but humane.

Chicken is dead cheap, pork cheap and meat affordable. There only way this is possible is through effective factory farming. The living conditions for these animals is no priority for the corporations - profit is.

I agree with you. The production of goose liver is disgusting. You're right. But anyone thinking that eating chicken, pork or beef at a restaurant or buying "free range" eggs from a supermarket is not contributing to absolutely disgusting treatment of animals is either ignorant, lying to himself, or simply prioritizing their own benefit. Myself I fall into the last one. Sadly.
