DOG EARS REVISION — some info.
Hey everyone!
There isn’t much info about revisions for dog ears and I wanted to share my experience from yesterday.
I had Dr. Mosser who did an incredible job. I just had a big chest! Extra chest = extra skin = possible dog ears. Surgeons with good technique can help reduce dog ears, but at the end of the day sometimes they just happen!
Price: $550 for anesthesia. I had him before so my surgeon’s fee was waived.
Duration: 30 minutes.
Anesthesia: Local. I was able to eat and drink whatever I wanted right up to surgery.
Diet: No need to be on a low sodium diet since it was local. I can eat whatever I want after surgery!
Medication: Anti nausea, pain, and constipation.
Post-Op Showering: Can take “quick” showers. In and out FAST. I bent over to make sure I don’t get my arm out area went. Was able to shower without help. Still have slight T-Rex arms.
Bandages: I can take off the bandages myself in one week.
Post-Op appointment: I’m from SoCal so I chose to do it virtually on his online portal. Can do it in person if you like!
Pre-Op: The day before. Did paper work, took photos, and that was it! Super fast.
Day of Surgery
• Showed up at 2 PM (was scheduled for 3:30PM)
• Did paper work
• Changed into surgery clothes
• On the table by 2:20 PM
• I was awake
• Lied with my arms out
• Had nice, warm “Bair Hugger” on my feet
• Was numbed. THIS MAY HURT FOR YOU. I didn’t feel bad at all, but if you’re not good with needles and such this will be painful for you. Staff was so kind and kept holding my arm as it was happening. Like a maternal pat/rub. Super sweet.
• Sliced open
• Fat burned off with little zapper thing
• Stitched up by Dr. Mosser and assistant.
• DONE.
• Given animal crackers and apple juice.
• Went home!
Let me know if any of you have questions.
Cheers!

So are they pretty much just clipping off the little peaks to flatten the area?
Yeah! Sort of. Basically making an oval above and below the original scar line (where the fit puckers our), they cut into that, take out the fat, and then sew the two together to continue/make the incision line. I’ll see how flat it is in 6 days!
Pictures would be amazing if you’re comfortable with it
Oh for SURE. Let me figure out the links and I got ya!
