Paresthesia

The thoughts of my mind descend into anarchy. Into black space.

Floating in the cold darkness, obsessing the moon.

I am weightless, and the stars beacon my eyes with heavy sorrow.

I fall through the dead expanse of night. The sun has worn out my vessel and my sweat freezes under the isolation.

It's a black hole,

I am lost in space.

The needles in my hands numb my mind,

the fire within my eyes bleed into tears,

and the touch of your skin sends snakes up my spine.

Please,

let these needles pierce my heart.

Clever title (I have to say I had to look it up though)! I like the feel of this poem, but I also think that a lot of the imagery is a bit distant and could be more devastating with more original phrases ("numb my mind" has definitely been seen before, and you could also definitely come up with something that's new).

Also, was "freezers" intentional? It makes it sound like the sweat can make itself freeze.

As for the meaning, I'm guessing this poem is either about addiction or love (or both).

Hey thanks for writing! I like how you used the word distant. This piece is about having this paresthesia (pins and needles) and wanting to escape the reality of that. Having feelings of anxiousness makes you want to do anything to get out of a situation causing that.

For this piece, space is used, as it's void. As the body reenters, he starts feeling again, "numb of mind...fire...touch" when all he really wants is those needles to kill him.

No love or addiction, just escape-ism.

(Typo corrected to freezes)
