Should I take the MCAT next week or push it back? Help!

Hey guys,

So basically today is the last date for me to cancel my MCAT appointment for June 29 and I was stuck between cancelling it or just taking it. I really want to apply to MD or even DO this cycle and I am a bit late but it's worth a shot. I really don't want to take a gap year. Anyways, here are my scores:

  • AAMC FL 1 (3/25/19): 497 (125/124/124/124)
  • AAMC FL 2 (3/29/19): 493 (123/124/123/124) Probably shouldn't have taken it literally like 3 days later lol
  • Actual MCAT (4/6/19): 498 (124/124/124/126)

So after failing the MCAT horribly, I studied since mid May to now and I just took the AAMC FL 3 today and got this:

  • AAMC FL 3 (6/20/19): 506 (126/127/127/126)

Now my actual second MCAT is next saturday (June 29) and I don't know if I should take it (after studying my weaknesses for a week) or if I should push it back to August and then apply next cycle :(

The only DO school in my area is Midwestern University of Chicago which has a MCAT average of 506 or less so that might seem like a good idea, but I don't know if I should go to DO school or take a gap year for MD schools. The MD schools in Chicago are all around like 510 ish and I might be able to get my score up if I do the 80 page KA notes and spend a little more time on strengthing chem/phys in a week. However, that is still risky. Now I'm stuck in deciding whether I should take the MCAT next week or cancel it and take it in August.

P.S, what's wrong with DO schools that people are always talking about it as if its bad? Residency matching? I live in Chicago so there should be enough spots for residency if I'm trying to do family medicine or anesthesiology. The DO school was founded in 1900 so should have connections now?

EDIT:

  • GPA : 3.84
  • Founded non-profit organziation (which i have volunteered in) and businesses that were all successful
  • Can shadow after taking MCAT in the month it takes for score to come back
