/r/ Digimon Rules and FAQ - Read Before Posting

Mod Post

What's up Superstars!

It's time for us to review the rules, make some things clearer, and add on some additional information.

A lot of these should be common sense, but please take note of the content we don't allow.

A TL;DR version is in the side bar, but please try to read the complete rules

If you see anybody breaking any of the rules below, please report them, do not make attempts to comment on the post informing the user it's wrong, let us handle it.

In addition, there's also a FAQ at the end of this post.

General

1. Submissions must be related to the Digimon franchise

  • exception are Meta threads regarding the subreddit itself
  • regarding "Pokémon vs Digimon" content; mostly disallowed unless it's an intelligent and thought provoking post.

2. Submissions must not be duplicate of others

  • e.g. posts about news
  • reposts of posts such as memes or screenshots may be reposted after at least three months
  • before posting, have a quick look around on subreddit as a similar discussion or post may have already been posted

3. Spoilers must be flagged as such

  • use the spoiler flair/tag
  • don't put spoilers in the title
  • in comments/self text use: > ! Spoiler ! < (without the spaces)
  • make clear what the spoiler is for e.g. Adventure Spoiler: >!Leomon dies!<
  • based on product listings, magazines, etc. some things may not be treated as spoilers, tread carefully if you want to be unspoiled.

4. Put effort into your submissions

  • add a good, descriptive title
  • avoid making low effort posts which are just 'Who's your favourite Digimon?'
    • add a description, an explanation for your own answer, an image
  • avoid clickbait titles
  • flair accordingly
  • use formatting to improve readability

Behaviour

5. Be nice

  • don't be rude
  • don't be a bigot
  • don't intentionally troll/provoke
  • don't bully

7. Do not share personal information of anyone

  • e.g. address, real name, phone number

8. Avoid backseat modding

  • instead report the post/comment and/or write a modmail

9. Respect the mods

  • do not argue about rules or attempt to loophole them
  • all four mods wrote, discussed, and agreed upon these rules

Content

10. Do not post illegal content

  • Do not link to, mention, or hint about any illegal streaming sites
  • Do not ask for illegal streaming or otherwise illegal ways to access media
  • Do not mention emulation unless you're using an official BIOS and game file from a console and game you own
  • Patching existing content with fanmade subtitles or translations is OK, provided that the original is a legal copy (see the FAQ for more info)
  • Do not talk about unofficial games
    • Fan games ARE mostly allowed provided they're not seeking a profit and are mostly original content
  • Fanmade content in general is mostly fine

11. Do not post explicit (pornographic) content

  • Suggestive content must be flagged NSFW, however, pornographic content is NOT allowed
  • Mature content to a degree is allowed, but we consider the subreddit all ages

12. Give credit

  • In your post title, either mention the artist (fanart by 'X') or add [OC] or [Original Content]
  • If you are not the artist, you must comment the source in the post.

13. Don't spam the subreddit

  • If you have multiple questions, compile them to a single post, do not make several separate posts for individual questions
  • Likewise, for multiple images, compile them into an imgur library and post that.
  • The exception to the single post a day rule is news posts, which are mostly posted by Marc for WtW.

14. Limit Self-Promotion

  • You should interact with other posts beyond your own and comment and post in other ways besides self promoting
  • Quick to consume posts (such as fanart and short blog posts/articles) are limited to once a day
  • Long to consume posts (such as length blog posts/reviews, videos, and podcasts) are limited to once a week
  • Sales posts are limited to once a week
  • Combine your work (e.g. in an album or playlist) when necessary
  • In addition, we aren't looking for additional discords, The With the Will Discord for general/all around discussion, and the Digimon Discord Community for more game-centric discussion.

15. Follow Reddit's Rules

  • Anything else not listed obviously falls under the sitewide rules of Reddit.

FAQ

We, your friendly DigiMods, thought we'd help everyone out by writing up a quick FAQ for people to skim through before they ask a question in the subreddit, just in case we've already covered it.

Please note, if you ask a question that could have been answered completely by this FAQ, your post will be deleted.

We'll be possibly adding to and editing this depending on what ever questions are relevant. So feel free to check back!

Q: 2019 English Language Digimon Vpets: Is this official?/Has Anyone seen these?/What are they?

A: These toys are 2019 English re-releases of the 2017 ver20th Digimon pets and were released on the 8th of July in Australia, the 18th for New Zealand, and, as of July 26th, America and Canada. Yellow/Grey are based on the Gabu Grey v20ths and Blue/Red are based on the Agu Red ver20ths. Please refer all discussions, photos, and/or questions about these English vpets to this thread, otherwise your thread will be removed. Please also check this discussion thread for some FAQs about this pet!

Q: Survive news?/Is Survive cancelled?

A: Delayed until 2020.

Q: What order should I watch Digimon in?/What order should I play the Wonderswan games/Listen to the CD Dramas?

A: There isn't any official order as on the surface, except for Adventure, 02, and Tri, Digimon seasons aren't really tied together. However, u/Airdramon wrote up a quick runthrough of a way you could consume all of Digimon.

Q: Where can I watch the Tamers/Frontier/Savers Digimon Movies in English?

A: Lost to time and wasn't released on DVD.

Q: How can I watch Digimon in Japanese with English subtitles?/Where can I watch this Digimon season?

A: Digimon Adventure Tri and Digimon Xros Wars are both available on CrunchyRoll. As for other seasons, please consult this guide on adding subtitles. Recently, Digimon seasons in English have been taken off some American streaming services. In addition, because.moe is a good website to use to find legal ways to watch Digimon (and other anime). Otherwise, DVDs are available from DVD stores and Amazon.

Q: What are some good sites to buy Digimon toys/merch?/How do I use proxy/intermediary services/What are some good ones?

A: NipponYasan, AmiAmi, and HobbyLink Japan are good for preorders for most new releases. For older releases or popup store stock, eBay can be expensive, so it's probably best to use an intermediary site like FromJapan. Here's a quick rundown on different proxy/intermediary sites.
