Recommendations for a trip to SF at the end of June?

Headed to SF at the end of June for a conference (UX Intensive), staying for about a week (until the 4th). Looking for recommendations for fun stuff to do, and maybe a hotel recommendation. My GF is going to join me halfway through, so romantic stuff is definitely acceptable :P

Sounds like the pride parade will be on when I arrive, is this fun for straight tourists? When's the best time to visit the pier? Also, I'd love some tips for stuff most tourists might miss.
