NBA All Time Draft
Hello,
I hope this is okay, but Iam a fellow NBA fan from r/nbadiscussion and I was referred to this sub by one of the mods there. We were having an all-time draft, which is similar to a fantasy basketball draft, but with thirty teams taking turns choosing players from throughout NBA history. Since this sub is dedicated to NBA history, especially the older players that many fans may not know about, I thought there would be some interest in taking part of this draft. If you are interested, please send me a pm or comment. Thank you!

Whoever picks up '57 or '58 Maurice Stokes is low-key killing it!
Depends on the rules of the draft. I've not done one of these before, but is the presumption that you're drafting for a season? For a career? Do you get the player at their skill level of their rookie season? Or is it their peak season? Do things like injury or durability or off-court issues come into play? Etc. Like can you draft Connie Hawkins and get his presumed output had he not been sidelined for point shaving? Can you take Bill Walton or Yao Ming and get to pretend that their are no health issues slowing them down?
If you get a player at their peak and you don't have to factor in real life issues that may have shortened their career, then I agree Stokes would be a steal. There are plenty of players from the 50s and 60s that most fans don't know about that could probably be good early picks, but you could wait till later because of their obscurity.
He explains it at the link - basically you pick a player & 1 season of theirs, then the guy is gone (so someone is taking '91 or whenever MJ, then no one else gets MJ), so 1-hit wonders or guys like Stokes can be quite good. Robert Parrish on the other hand ....
