[Space City Scoop]On The Jump, Woj just said Jimmy preferred to have a team built around him than to be the third option.

They’re hard capped. How tf are they gonna build anything worthwhile around him?
They won’t this year, but Next year when Whiteside, Ryno, and Dragic roll off their books they’ll be a marquee destination. At that point Winslow, Johnson, and Waiters will be expiring and much easier to move as well.
But damn that’s a lot of bad contracts lol. What was Riley thinking in 2016?
2016 was crazy lol.
The same thing a lot of teams were thinking: “Shit, we have all this money, might as well spend it.”
But who are the big free agents next year? Lets just see this for what it is, he wanted the bag, nightlife and didn't really care about winning.
Also I'd like to contend that Jimmy while a good player is not a #1 option on a championship team, hes a #2 at best and probably a good #3 but in todays game he's never going to win as a #1.
A marquee destination with 30 year old Jimmy Butler trying to attract free agents.
I suppose if he morphs into the Butler from the Wolves 2 years ago, that might get players wanting to go there. But it seems like a tough situation.
Sure they’ll be a marquee destination, but with all of the guys you named leaving, that leaves Butler and 8 random role players and rookies/g-leaguers. Even if you can add two superstars, two solid players, and two rotation bench players, that team is super thin. I know they have one or two promising young guys, but Miami hasn’t had a good track record for developing young talent, especially the past few years.
IIRC the huge deals were the heat living up to their word. They had their guys wait and see what Gordon Hayward was gonna do and the heat made promises that if they didn’t get hayward the players would be paid hefty for waiting on the decision
I feel like he has to know that it's going to be tough sledding with virtually 0 chance of winning a title during his prime.
And if that's the case, I suppose I can respect that. Not everyone has to be motivated strictly by winning titles.
He wants to be Dwanye Wade. Only probably is, he isn’t Dwayne Wade
well that's stupid
Not that it matters now but he would have definitely been the second opinion behind the MVP.
Right? CP3 is a pass-first(to an extent) point guard. Plus, especially look at this past season, he clearly doesn’t mind letting other players take the big shots.
If Jimmy Butler is your best player/number one option, you’re not going to have a good time.

4th stringer scrimmage part II.
It makes sense for him. Why would he want to play behind an aging Chris and in the shadow of Harden? He would have to do all the work on defense and occasionally play on offense. He's gonna get paid in Miami, nice women, nice weather and he's the MAN. Everybody was mad at Durant for joining a stacked team, but get mad at Jimmy for starting his own? SMH give him a break.
A team with Durant as 1st option can build a contender. Butler is a 2nd option on a contender.
Too bad he’s not a player you build a team around.

This fucking guy. The ego.
He's an idiot.
Meaning, when all your friends are ugly... you look a lot better.
dodged a locker room cancer

He would be the 2nd option
Imagine that.
A little vain...
Y’all really thought he would fit perfectly on our team
Morey did, and he knows more than any of us, by a fucking mile
Don't lump me in with 'ya'll'. I thought we could make it work but thought it'd be a sidegrade if we gave up too much.
I’m not talking about you btw
Bye Felicia, hope you like perpetual mediocrity as the first option.

In one season tbh.
Dude has been on 4 teams in the past 4 years and he's an all-star. That's just unheard of.
