One Year F2P Progress (F2P btw)
Just wanted to share my progress on my 1 year anniversary of playing Summoners War and give some advice that might help other early-game players.

There were some trials and tribulations, like when I almost quit after accidentally feeding my 5* Shannon to a 2* Sieq because I didn't know you could lock units.
But for the most part, I've really enjoyed my time playing SW and feel like I've made some pretty good progress in one year for a F2P player (btw).
I've pulled 7 nat 5s--plus one dupe Ethna--with the newest addition being Odin this past weekend.

Ethna

Louise

Woosa

Daphnis

Perna

Psamathe

Odin
I have made 40 six star units, in the following order:
- Vero
- Bella
- Sig
- Ethna
- Hwa
- Shaina
- Sabrina
- Amir
- Talia
- Colleen
- Sophia
- XF
- Mav
- Darion
- Kona
- Lapis
- Kahli
- Verde
- Theo
- Fran
- Woosa
- Lushen
- Bernard
- Lushen2
- Bulldozer
- Perna
- Maruna
- Racuni
- Olivia
- Lisa
- Xiao Lin
- Jeanne
- Psamathe
- Daphnis
- Khmun
- Antares
- Delphoi
- Copper
- Galleon
- Triana
I got pretty lucky pulling Shaina early, and then used all my stones on Sabrina and Lushen (lucked out on Sabrina, took me about 7 months to summon my first Lushen though) Obviously twins were a major milestone in my progression as I've leaned on them pretty heavily.
As you might have been able tell I built units in groups or teams. Gb10 units. DB10 units. R5 units. Siege teams. etc. Usually all built in close proximity to one another.
Biggest mistakes I see people make early game:
-
Going to DB10 and NB10 too early. Finally registering a sub-minute GB10 time doesn't mean it's time to move on to the next dungeon; it means it's time to farm it into the ground. I did not move on to dragons until I was capable of building two 300 speed swift sets. My first DB10 run was 51 seconds. If you're farming DB10 with Megan, Vero, Bella, or Sig, you're doing it wrong. (You should absolutely run DB10 one time for the free challenge rewards though). I haven't even farmed NB10 yet after one year. I only run it when I must defeat the Lich 5x for my daily 15 crystals.
-
Build units that hinder progression. Don't build anything that you don't plan on putting into your GB10 early game. Twins are pretty much the only exception. That nat 5 you just summoned is amazing but if he's not going in your GB10, he's only slowing you down.
-
Not farming enough. You shouldn't be doing anything but farming giants pretty much. Go as far as you can get in TOA, use your arena wings, then go back to giants.
-
Not building towers/flags. Such an incredible boost. I've maxed my all my towers except for HP%, which is at 7, and the elemental attack towers, which are at 5. It's free stats for all of your units, everywhere. Get the devilmon every week but don't you dare touch those scrolls!
-
Not building the cookie-cutter GB10 team. Sure, your team may work, but there's a reason the cookie-cutter team is called as much. It's low investment and you'll get a lot of use out of all the units. And it works. Also, please do not replace Shannon with Megan. Shannon is 10x better in GB10.
-
Not understanding how Vero works. I made this mistake as well. When I started having success in GB10 was when I realized that my Vero was too fast. He was taking a turn before the right tower in GB10. I ran a team with no atk bar boosters, made Vero 203 speed (including towers), didn't use vio runes, and I had a 99% team. If I made Vero 240 speed, or even 204 speed, my win rate dropped dramatically. I know that seems antithetical that giving your "best" unit worse runes could drastically improve your team, but that is indeed the case. Make an effort to understand mechanics!
-
Building good units without the rune quality to support them. Lushen is amazing but shouldn't be 6 starred until you've got at least some GB10 under your belt. He doesn't do much with 40% crit rate. Galleon is good and all but doesn't do a whole lot when he doesn't have skillups and you're running him with Vero, Bella, Darion, and Bernard.
-
Forcing sets. Please, Please do not put +50 spd vio sets on Vero or Bella because someone says they are best on violent. Use swift.
-
Don't play inefficiently. Don't farm DB10 if you have an 80% team, or farm rifts when you're not able to finish it. If you're cleaving toa/h, wait until free toa weekend to do it. Don't buy premiums if you don't operate at crystal surplus! And if you operate at a surplus, farm more!
-
Getting/reading bad or outdated advice. The best advice I've gotten to date was from streamers. Gameyurt was a big help in understanding the early game and basic game concepts, Makeitabud and Mathsplusgames have been extremely helpful in helping me determine the quality of runes and which to keep/sell which was something I really struggled with early (and still do), and Foxysw is of course an arena guru and has helped conceptualize more late-game concepts. Even if I'm not quite at the point where I can take advantage of them yet, I feel that having some kind of direction and knowing what you need to do is one of the biggest challenges to overcome in SW.
On that note, where I'm going from here:
-
Farming runes and grinds, as always. Doing DB10 now for a few decent Vio sets, but going back to Giants at some point shortly.
-
Mostly working on PVP teams. I'd like to be able to help my guild as much as I can in GW and Siege (we just hit g3 siege this week, wish me luck...gulp)
-
I'd like to make a decent arena team to push for g1. I'll build a 3rd (fat) Lushen when I plan to do it.
-
I want to focus on RTA at some point in year 2, but it's kind of hard with no will runes and limited unit choices, especially when I need viable units like verde on pve builds. I know I can get C2, would like to see if I can go for C3 at some point soon, and maybe by the end of the year, G1. I might have better luck in a 4* special league due to my lack of units.
Anyways I mostly made this post because I wanted to help early game players with their progression. If you have any questions feel free to hit me up! And likewise, if you're mid-game or late-game and want to give me some advice, I'm all ears!

1400 days played and still dont have more than one 300 speed swift set....
to be fair, my sets are on Bernard and Woosa and they have high base speeds--I've actually had pretty poor luck with swift runes.
And I slowed down Woosa for more HP because I don't really need him that fast anyway.
around the same amount of days and i still don't have all my towers maxed... HP and def still at 7..
I gave up on swift runes a while ago. No use for the 25 res swift runes I always get, so might as well do necro where all the sets are semi useable
