How did you chose your alias?

Wu-tang clan name generator. I kinda regret it.

It took me forever to find a name. I was watching Futurama and Amy said "mellout", like 'mellow out' and I knew immediately that was my name. It helps that I write chill downtempo music :)

I have a list of hundreds of potential names. A lot of it has come from free association/just thinking in the spot. This hasn't always yielded the best results.

Being in a band means I have to double check with the other person what they think of a name I really enjoy which gets very frustrating as we don't agree on most of them.

Just keep your eyes peeled. Notice things in the world around you. Read lots. Read varied things. Pick an artist you like (preferably not too recently) and see if there's a song title that could work or a lyric you could repurpose as a name. Literally anything. Be open minded and not afraid to move on if you change your mind about it (early enough. Five albums in might be tricky)

When I was younger and people would ask my middle name I would tell them it was Alphonso cause I thought it was funny for some weird kid shit reason. When I was thinking of a stage name I liked it but thought Alphonse would sound cooler

first part of my last name

When I was in college taking a sociology class the teacher asked us to describe the student next to them. The kid next to me said, kinda quiet, an outsider

Went through a huge mental list of words associated with stuff I'm passionate about. Decided on HitPoint (that's your health in games)

Really happy with it

I was really struggling in the beginning when trying to come up with a good name, as I wanted it sound similar to names like "Tobu", "Manse", "Itro" and many others, but in the end I just translated my last name into English.

This is funny, but I was thinking of hacker names like switch, cypher, crypto, and I came up with Ast3rix.

What do you stand for? Google it, read all the wiki pages and look for a word that you like that relates to what you stand for.
