RPG- Using FATE to recreate the WoT Universe.

Hello,

A friend of mine has recently discovered FATE and I've been itching to play some WoT RPGs but didn't feel DnD worked well in the setting. Been reading the FATE lite stuff and I think it's a good fit. If anyone is familiar with FATE I would love to hear some ideas/feedback on the system being applied to WoT.

I'm planning on using the wiki for defining aspects.

Setting I was thinking a few hundred years after the breaking possibly during or leading up to Artur Hawkwing reign.

Is there a way in FATE I can have the Aes Sedai slowly progress within this system. Such as not being able to see weaves at the start and learning new techniques as they grow stronger or do I just need to establish at the beginning how strong their characters are?

Wizards of the coast did publish a WoT rpg once upon a time. It had some good and bad in it though

Not familiar with Fate, but World of darkness system might work for you, particularly with the Aes Sedai. Check out vampire the masquerade, mage the awakening, and hunter the reckoning.

Yeah, they had a 3e version. The 5e homebrew is super light and needs more work if you ask me. My main issue is working with different elements that would unlock certain spells. Like being able to slash weaves with spirt or detecting metals with earth.

As I've neared the end of the series I've been thinking of this myself. I would look at the rules for Metaphysics in D6 Space for some ideas. Completely different system I know, but it may help with design. I currently use that system for the Force in a D6 Star Wars game, and I personally treat the Force and The One Power in a similar manner.

Fate works off a d6 as well. I'll look into that system though.

There was a someone who posted a D&D Homebrew thing for WoT a while ago that I think works really well. I'll look it up later when I get home.
