Question about a Bayliner Ciera 245

Hi r/boating I’m wondering if planning a trip from Panama to Seattle would be crazy in this vessel. My husband and I might have the opportunity to do this but I haven’t found good info on this.

That is insane. You will die.

Second this. You would need to hug the shoreline and refuel so many times. This would not even be remotely fun.

All we needed to know.

I did a quick (and rough) plot of that trip. It looks like it's about 4700 miles. I estimated your boat as having a 27mph cruise, and a 22gph fuel burn. Using those numbers, it would take you over 7 days (~173 engine hours) to make the trip at 27 mph, which doesn't include stopping or sleeping. Run into any weather (and you WOULD run into weather), and you could easily add 50% on to that number.

I also estimated that you'd burn about 3800 gallons of fuel. With a 65 gallon fuel tank, you'd need to fill up about 60 times along the way.

The verdict: You ain't going Panama to Seattle via Bayliner 245.

Can’t believe I forgot this- everything I just said: double it for the return trip.
