5 matches in a row all Simic Flash..

Discussion

I’m so sick of this fucking deck!! I don’t care if I lose but preventing your opponent from doing anything is so fucking annoying. Yes I can build a deck to counter this but that isn’t what it’s all about. I’m a new player and this is supposed to be fun, losing is fine but being frustrated with this shit isn’t how games are designed. I’m not blaming the players, WotC made these cards and people will use them..so fuck WotC for having no foresight into their game..or maybe they do and this kind of frustration is fine with them. God I hope this shit show goes away and I can go back to grinding my daily without much frustration. Thanks ;)

You can ask 5 different players and they will complain that 5 different things are broken.

Fair. I hate the fuck out of esper. We all got our “enemy” decks lol.

TayWu•

Pretty sure everyone hates Esper, even Esper in the mirror

OP is not complaining about it being broken, but that it's frustrating to play against. Which I agree with

7
Cr00xxy•

Lets go cry bla nma decks a Frustrating and Just play with commons with no adv mechanics..

2

Lol I don't understand some of the words you used. But I think most people would agree that some 'adv mechanics' are more frustrating than others to play against

BoostteeOP•

I understand your point, but this deck is everywhere. So the complain is a bit more valid then 5 random things that aren’t really effecting game play that much.

Is Mono Red everywhere? Or Esper Control? Heck, in BO3 what about Nexus? If a deck is strong people will play it, plus 3feri shuts the deck down COMPLETELY lol I get being annoyed at a deck but really it's more annoying than mono red aggro?

6
BoostteeOP•

I actually don’t mind playing against mono red, because they aren’t that annoying and still let you play your cards. Plus they kill you quick, which is fine with me if I’m gonna lose anyway.

That’s not strictly speaking true. People are still moaning about [[Teferi, Time Raveler]] and there are plenty of people who find RDW or even the new Temur Elementals oppressive and all of those decks have higher meta-showing by any rights than Simic Flash. I’ll admit that it’s actually a far more frustrating deck for me than the others because I’ve been enjoying my Reanimator decks, but I’m sure people who like blue control and Simic flash would say that Teferi and Shifting Ceratops don’t allow them to play the kind of magic that they want. Everybody doesn’t like the kind of decks that are good against theirs.

I will always moan about 3feri and Narset. If didn't want to play magic, I'd go play Modern and get turn two killed by Hogaak. (Rest in piece Bridgegaak) You are correct though, Simic Flash has a middle of the road meta-showing, after sideboard its chances usually decrease against anything playing counters or Shifting Ceratops, pending what you run in the sideboard for simic flash at least, I tend to put 4 shifting ceratops in the side show just so I can fight fire with fire.

1
WalkingCastle•

I think it’s a little dramatic to say that Narset doesn’t let you play magic. It’s powerful, possibly broken, but it doesn’t keep you from doing anything. Teferi makes some cards actually unplayable so I can understand a certain amount of griping about that, but hate cards balance magic. Most sideboards in modern are purely or mostly hate cards for specific archetypes. I’m not saying I like it. It’s a little too general, but it doesn’t bother most of my decks.

I guess so, counters on top of flash is just fucking annoying. I thought Esper control was annoying but this is a new level.

Frustration = paying money for more cards/decks to overcome that frustration = business success.

time to bust out the T3feris

It's a fad. People will maindeck hate against it and the meta will adjust. It is a very good deck though. You just have to consistently threaten them with something every turn till you push through their counter magic.

I've been playing a few decks, and while it's a pretty even match-up, I tend to have a little bit of an edge with my Mardu Kaalia deck. If I can get a Lyra Dawnbringer to stick and maybe protect her with a God's Willing, they stop being able to have a profitable attack. Planeswalkers that can bring back stuff like Sorin are great because now they have to deal with what you brought back AND have to kill Sorin before he does it again. Kaalia has been great because she represents a small threat on board, can attack and block cuz of vigilance, and often draws me into 1-2 more threats, replacing herself if she dies.

If you REALLY hate this deck jam Teferi, Time Raveler. They can't play at instant speed. You just need to protect him with boardwipes, cheap removal or cheap countermagic to make sure he comes down. Maybe hold off and play on turn 4 with 1 mana up for spell pierce. Boardwipes are your friend against this matchup. They can still bounce something they own to their hand or counter it, but eventually they have to run out and you can push through.

Some good points, so I have to build a specific deck or join the Simic club. I don’t have the wildcards for the decks that counters them..so my only option is join the club. Simic doesn’t seem be deep in rares from what I see.

Are you playing in Ranked? That's where I've been seeing it, but I haven't been doing non-ranked.

I don't think you should play decks you don't like. Try to separate the feels bad of losing games and try to decipher if you don't like the deck or if you don't like that you have a bad match-up and keep losing to it. If you actually think it's a cool deck, go ahead and build it. Prob 4 rares for the wolves, and you are gonna need green-blue shocks probably.

I was playing Esper for a long time and HATED Grixis. I inspected it a bit more, and then tried it out because it looked fun, and it in fact was.

I imagine mono-red/white/blue should be able to take on simic flash. Cheap stuff probably gets under their cards since it's unlikely that they can counter multiple things per turn.

It's up to you. I would be wary of fad-decks. If it's your playstyle, sure, if not, don't worry too much and try your best not to get tilted. Maybe go do some drafts in the meantime.

BoostteeOP•

I’m playoff both, today was in unranked and then I moved to rank to many get away from it, but nope.

PhoenixRebornRekindling Phoenix•

I'm having fun playing against them as Grixis Control. It ends up turning into this mind game as they hold up their creatures and you hold removal until someone blinks. If you can get them to tap out or use up their counters, resolve a Chandra or Bolas and start cleaning up.

2
BoostteeOP•

I thought about building a Grixis deck but it’s a bit expensive for my account .

1

Yeah it's pretty annoying to play against but at least they can close out the game reasonably fast

Hurray for shifting ceratops and veil of summer :) My dinos love simic flash, almost as easy as mono blue.

Good luck and have fun.

Go insane and believe in the main-deck 4x [[Leyline of Anticipation]] and then only run into Teferi Decks so you have a new card/deck hatred.

But hey at least you'll only be killed by a 2/1 creature against Simic Flash as they're forced to use all their counter spells on your turn until you realise they run [[Unsummon]] and life returns to normal.

And people say duplicate Leyline of Anticipations have no purpose. A hand of four of them at the start of the game is a great counter to a hand of 4x Unsummons.

It’s just another form of U-X control. Baby Teferi in my Jeskai Plane-pals Deck shuts this down pretty quickly. Hold up until they tap out or keep 5 back with a counter.
