Question regarding the Argentine civil war

Historical Project Mod

I recently decided to take a look into the Argentine Confederation.

Around 1850 a popup tells me that Buenos Aires is seceding and presents me the option to keep playing the Argentine Confederation or them.

The first one seems like the better option because they turn into a republic yet I've read some people saying that you should Buenos Aires during the war and re-unite Argentina with them. Yet when I pick them I don't get any event or Casus Belli on the confederation.

Is it possible to unite Argentina with BA?

Tbh I always just pick the middle of the three options, the "strongly worded letter" or whatever, and they don't up wind secceeding at all. I keep playing as the conservative and steadily reforming Argentina, which also allows you to form la plata much sooner, since you can direct your military resources outwards, get a pro-military or jingoist (cant remember which) party, actually make money unlike the laissez faire liberals, but also get immigrants, unlike pres dictatorship Buenos aires.

Doesn't that keep you with the reactionary presidential dictatorship?

I chose the first option and then instantly called for elections to vote out the liberals which then put the conservatives in charge.

(Which are kinda terrible because Interventionism + Free Trade + Jingoist is kinda terrible for a developing nations but I just scratched the prestige together formed La Plata and then let myself get couped by the militant socialist).

I've never still been a Pres Dictatorship by the time the civil war rolls around, but it you were a dictatorship, then sure, you'd remain one.

What is the best way to switch off it? Even with 23 Infamy I never got any jacobians revolting..

Pass reforms that lead to more militancy/consciousness later on.

Haven't played them with the most recent HPM, but I have played Mexico and was confused as to why I couldn't switch to a conservative party or get any upper house that wasnt reactionary with them. Did they totally rework PresDictatorships? I used to be able to just get enough upper house support to pass landed voting and the dictatorship was gone.

I think you have the ability to reform the Plata. I did it as Uruguay, you just have to sphere everyone and then you’re good.

As for nations to play, I would Strongly recommend Uruguay. There’s an immigration malus for one province, but if you conquer another area like Panama for instance (that won’t have any army), you’ll get insane immigration on par with the US.

You start the game in a liberal revolution, and you can quite literally pass all the liberal reforms at ease. I think you should do that instead of Argentina.

Historically buenos aires should win but by the Time that pops up i have already puppeted Paraguay and Uruguay so i always defeat buenos aires quickly
