Looking for a black metal blog that I think was linked here

As the title says, I was reading a black metal blog post about flaws in the genre today and what needs to change for future. Agree or not, it was well written and well argued. That same blogger had a post arguing that black metal was at it's peak between 1991 and 1997 in the norway. He recommended Kvist - For Kunsten Vi Evig Vike (1996) as an example of overlooked albums from this era.

I just can't find that blog again for the life of me. I'd love to read more by the same writer.

Reminds me of something this guy I used to know on tumblr would write, haha. Was it this site? http://www.morbidcurse.com/articles.html

Sounds like a terrible blog if that was his argument tbh. Lol at anyone that thinks 91-97 was peak years of the genre, huge dogwhistle that he wants more second wave worship with probably morally questionable artists.

Agree or not, I thought it was well written. He certainly had a point about bands like Kvist not getting enough praise.

I just want to find the blog again.

Could be. The argument sounds pretty fundamentally dumb to me based on the premise but maybe.

Sorry I can’t help you find it.

What dogwhistling? Is it bad to like 2nd wave now because of burzum? It's an iconic and influential period for the genre whether you think they're moral people or not

I like Burzum too, there’s just a really vocal elitist group in black metal that think the genre only encompasses a certain sound and there’s a strong trend of them being linked irl to european white nationalist groups and such.

The “black metal was always supposed to be evil” argument is a massive dogwhistle to me now as a result. The only people that say that shit are people that parrot things that sound good to them or people with really sketchy political/social beliefs that they don’t want to have to answer for.
