Using JNSQ, which rescales the solar system by 2.7x, updates Kerbin with new landmasses, and adds additional planets and moons to explore.
Mod list:
##Dreadnought Duna I in expedition configuration around Kerbin.
Main features:
9x Nuclear Engines - 6 km/s dV, fully laden.
Main relay dish - High bandwidth Duna-Kerbin transmissions, facing aft.
Forward and Rear relay dishes - 4x redundancy each, capable of Duna-Kerbin transmissions at reduced bandwidth. They serve as relays for the communication constellation and Duna-ground transmission.
Solar/Radiator array - Three large solar arrays supplement the nuclear power supply, while also providing cooling for the ship.
Centrifuge - Sleeping berths for the long journey.
Operations center - Features 3D printers for on-site repairs on the long journey, communication station, and remote control stations.
Dinghy - Affectionately called "the Spam can," the dinghy is a single-man capsule for use as tender between larger ships. Can also re-enter Kerbin and Duna atmosphere with a semi-soft touchdown. In case of emergency, it is the only way to send supplies to the Duna ground team.
2x Satellite relay - Located opposite of the dinghy. Will be launched in elliptical orbits during Duna insertion, to jump start the communication constellation.
Duna Lander - 2.8 km/s dV, supplies for three Kerbals for a two month expedition, and rover.
This is awesome, great storytelling. I'm working on my own "realistic" Duna mission w. Kerbalism right now. Right now I'm going with two separate vehicles for Landing/Base and Ascent Modules but now I'm reconsidering :D
Thank you! In the past, I've had trouble balancing a base and ascent module on the same transit vehicle. I used an Apollo-style so everything would stack vertically. I'm not brave enough for Life Support yet. Would love to see that!
Life support is awesome, adds a whole lot of realistic complexity. Kerbalism is not as complicated as it might seem at first, but it's definitely a lot. USI Life support is simpler but still adds a lot of complexity to the game which I appreciate. At any rate, great mission!
Awesome write up, reads really well. Great looking ship as well
Damn that is beautiful!
Good shit
10/10, would read again/steal screenshots for threads.
Thank you so much! Your artwork looks amazing in game. Feel free to use anything you'd like, I couldn't have made it without you!
