Riding the Liguria coast (Marseilles-Genoa)

I plan on riding from Paris to Marseille (along eurovelo 3, 6 and 17) and then along the coast to Genoa, in August. Has anyone ridden this before? Is it safe? Or is it too hectic with small roads and a lot of cars? I can't seem to find much insightful info online about cycling the coast. Are there many camping spots along the way? Any help is much appreciated
