Beat and music was good, the keyboard synth was very owlcity esk so I liked that. But that voice is all wack. It's in the wrong key and I think hits a minor instead of a major and it just sounds off. Either ditch it or mess with the tuning. Over all 6/10

Thanks for the feedback! I have been struggling with the vocals, its a sample from a preset pack and i agree it sound "off". I think I will keep messing with it, as it kinda makes the song more interesting?

Appreciate it!

Slightly off vocals can definitely be interesting! But I think that last note is the one that very problematic. It wuykd take some work but to take that sample word by work or even just the last one and bind it as a note on a keyboard you could change the key pretty easily. That way it follows the rhythm better. Legitimately the rest sounds great

Thanks for the great tips, I really want some vocals so i will try to fix it. Still learning about music theory so i don't know much about minor and major yet. Will look in to it!

Sounds good, problem is it sounds like it’s made out of loops. Nothing really progresses, it’s just a happy tune repeating itself over and over. Also the third chord in the progression may need to be double checked, it sounds a little off.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! I often start of with a melody i make and try to create a song from that, so yeah I kinda get why it sounds like a loop. Do you have any tips for making it more progressive?

About the chord progression, could you explain a little more what you mean?

My songs are usually super progressive and they push a heavy narrative, that’s cause I start off with a chord progression and I make the fundamental chords shape the song.

You can do whatever variation you want to create a progressive feel. What helps me do this is I imagine a story I want to convey (sometimes I’ll write it down) and I’ll try to shape my music to match that story, so in that way you have a plot driving your music and therefore making it progressive. You can try using this or you can do any other way you find or come up with.

And the third chord I think uses notes out of the melodic scale, and since you repeat the melody it clashes during that chord.

Thanks!

The story telling in progression is a great tip. I will try to change it up a bit through the song.

I felt the same way about the track. The drop comes in and out and different instruments play through the melody to give it a feel of different dynamic levels (so good job there). However, the melody repeating over and over throughout the whole song without any change defeats the efforts of my previous statement. Think of a melody as an idea that can be toyed with, modified, and abandoned altogether throughout the course of a song, even if it’s only to come back to it later on in the track. If your track is a melody repeated 16 times over the course of a couple beat drops, the melody loses its interesting qualities the more familiarized you become with it. Change throughout a song progress the song. Change the melody, reharmonize behind the melody, change the rhythm, do something to make it interesting again.

Thanks for the feedback. A few people mentioned the chord progression and that it was repetetiv. Its difficult to change it up in my opinion but Im working on it!

How much do you know about theory in general? If you’re not well versed in harmonic theory I’d strongly recommend you get at least a functional knowledge of it. Music theory is kind of a big scary subject but a knowledge of it frees you up to try more interesting musical ideas. Obviously learning it isn’t the most “sexy” part of music, but it’s a huge advantage in your writing.

Add a variation in the drop/chorus so that you can have it go for longer (progression as the other guy mentioned) and add a bridge after the first chorus, you need a break in there otherwise it gets boring.

One small detail also, I think that vocal hits a note that is out of key.

Overall it sounds pretty good, just depends how long you've been producing, just keep grinding and work on being unique and creative with your sounds!

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't produced for long, its my second track using fl studios. I'm currently working on the chord progression to make it more interesting!
