Anybody who has any familiarity with the Chinese knows that nearly all treat animals like shit. It isn't racism in a bad way if it is fact.

These university's need to take some responsibility and educate these people in appropriate behavior and bear some responsibility for incidents like this. Cultural respect is required all round in a host country.

Grew up with my parents hosting Chinese (mostly) exchange students for the better part of 20 years, and lived in a Chinese-heavy neighbourhood for several years after that - they do not care about animals at all.

Just like the Chinese student a couple of days ago that threw an echidna off of a bridge and then threw rocks at it until it died.

WTF? Tell me you are kidding.

They are not unfortunately

Edit: for those who don't click the student got away with only community service as a punishment even though he admitted to the cruelty

6
fatso_crabboSA•

Why would he get worse? Do you think imprisoning him serves any benefit to society?

-5
MrMeeseeks14SA•

Did I say he needed a prison sentence? Or call for his immediate imprisonment? No but community service is not a fitting punishment. Don't white knight for a guy that has no issues killing innocent animals, he's on the path to becoming a serial killer.

If he were made an example of it might deter others, but at the very least he should be fined through the nose and deported after his punishment was over.

GotThemBabyLungsSA•

24, pretty much ticked all the boxes as a future serial killer and even though he was enough of a grown up to travel to another continent to study, the judge was too lenient , saying something along the lines of him not being grown up.

Dude should have been thrown off a bridge

Can’t find the article. But I reckon it was on the Australia subreddit. Like, two days ago?

Do a search on the sub for “echidna” and I’m sure it’ll come up.

White male Australians commit an overwhelming majority of crimes in Australia, but receive comparatively lower coverage than other demographic groups. There are shitty people from all cultures, but it's very easy to pick 100% of cases of group X being shitty and 1% of group Y, then say group X is the problem.

Looks like they're just posting news articles about people abusing animals?

Foreigners abusing animals though

6
martinskrtelSA•

... yes

muteboy10SA•

That's deemed racist to a lot of people nowadays. They only look at who is being reported on, rather than what is being reported on.

It's a very sad time.

6†
teh_drewskiInner South•

Nah they're pretty racist. Everything is Chinese peoples' fault if you read their comments.

They do post other stuff but there is definitely a racist agenda there too.

Although this story is still about a completely garbage asshole regardless of their race.

11
muteboy10SA•

Not really relevant in this case. I'm sure OP would report on similar cases involving any race/creed/colour/gender etc etc.

I've had a quick glance and I don't see anything racist... Correct me if I'm wrong though.

This bring me back. I am from china and this reminds me that abandoned pets are everywhere in chinese cities. There are many people who treat animals fairly in china of course. But since australian universities are charging the extremely high tuition yet have the lowest entry requirments, they are basically encouraging the worst kibd of humanities into this country.

He left them to marinate. Will be back later
